About The EF Hub
 Making the Invisible VisibleÂ
EF Hub began with a simple observation. Most classrooms have a hidden landscape. But we don't see it.
Many learners are capable, motivated and eager to succeed, yet continue to experience unnecessary barriers to learning, participation and independence. Too often, we respond to what we can see—unfinished work, frustration, anxiety or behaviour—without understanding the hidden executive function demands that contributed to those outcomes.
EF Hub exists to make those hidden demands visible.
By helping educators, families and learners understand both the demands created by learning environments and the executive function capacity available at any given moment, we can begin to design more inclusive, anticipatory and neuroaffirming approaches to learning.Â
TELL ME MOREThe Research Behind EF Hub
EF Hub has grown from a 6-year doctoral research project in schools exploring the relationship between executive function, digital technology, inclusive education and models of disability.
That research led to a simple but powerful insight.
Learning difficulties are often understood as problems within the learner. In reality, many challenges emerge when the executive function demands of a task exceed the executive function capacity available at that moment.
This idea became the foundation of the EF Hub Learning Framework, which encourages a different way of thinking by asking four questions:
- What hidden external executive function demands exist?
- What internal executive function capacity is available?
- Where is the Capacity–Demand Gap?
- How might we use this information to design more inclusive practice?
Rather than waiting for learners to struggle before making adjustments, the framework helps make barriers visible before learning begins, supporting more anticipatory, neuroaffirming and inclusive practice.
More Than a Framework
The EF Hub is not another programme or intervention.
It is an evolving ecosystem of ideas, tools and professional learning designed to help educators and parents better understand how hidden executive function demands shape learning, participation and independence.
From our introductory EF101 crash course into EF, to practical tools and structured whole-school implementation, every part of the EF Hub is built around the same purpose:
Making the Invisible Visible—so that strengths are recognised, barriers are anticipated rather than reacted to, and learning environments can be designed where every learner has the opportunity to thrive.
